Mech Head
2024 Lead / Technical Animation – 1Up Scheme (Contract)
Mech Head has previously been developed in 2023, although I was brought onto the 2024 team temporarily to rework and fix the majority of the animation systems.
My responsibilities included:
- Re-rigging the player & enemy mech legs.
- Re-animating the player & enemy mech legs.
- Creating a new animation blueprint in Unreal Engine 5.
- Adding IK foot placement and rotation to the player mech.
During my short time working on Mech Head, I was able to achieve all of these goals very quickly and to a good standard, then continue work on Disc-Go!.
In very fortunate timing a few weeks before working on Mech Head I just finished my Character Enhancements project, which meant I had already experimented with IK foot placement.
I was also not responsible for the spider enemy animations…
