Technical Animation – Character Enhancements Experiments
This is a project I created to expand my knowledge of animation and UE5 by adding enhancements to the characters I animate.
Even though I was able to take a static mesh of a character all the way through the animation pipeline, I found sometimes the animations I made still looked a bit flat. This was because there was no physics applied to the equipment of characters.
This was an experiment to add cloth, rigid body and spring physics all onto one character. I also developed a basic IK foot placement system. The focus of this project was not on the quality of animations.
I was able to achieve:
- Cloth physics.
- Spring / Jiggle physics.
- Rigid body physics.
- IK foot placement.
- Smooth collision with the player and environment.
- All of the above on 1 skeletal mesh / character.
